Claude Martin was the Director General of WWF International from 1993 to 2005. Prior to WWF, he was a member of the China Council on International Cooperation, Environment and Development and served as Vice-chair of the International Institute for Sustainable Development until 2013.
Mr. Martin is a Swiss citizen and holds an MSc from the University of Zurich where he graduated with a PhD thesis in ecology. Before joining WWF he worked as a field biologist in India and West Africa.
He is currently the Chancellor of the International University in Geneva, the Chairman of the Sustainability Committee of Precious Woods, a member of the Investment Committee of Moringa (Edmond de Rothschild Private Equity fund specialized in Agroforestry) and a panel member of the Swiss National Science Foundation. Claude Martin is a member of the Club of Rome.
